I’m a storyteller who loves searching for compelling stories and relating these stories accurately and artfully.
I’m a New Mexican by birth — and proud of it (as anyone who meets me quickly finds out) — but a traveler by heart.
As a freelance writer, I specialize in travel, art and culture, and wellness. I have penned articles for Outside (online), New Mexico Magazine, Santa Fean (and Santa Fean Now), Southwest Art, Phoenix Magazine, Dorado, among others. I also contribute to Bindu, a new itinerary-based website. As the several-times author of the New Mexico True Adventure Guide and 100 Things to Do in Albuquerque Before You Die, I’m an expert on my home state’s marquee and off-the-beaten-path desrinations.
As an editor, I oversee Guest Life New Mexico and Guest Life El Paso. I also act as lead editor for the forthcoming Southwest Adventure Series from University of New Mexico. My book, Eco-Travel New Mexico, will be the first in the series; it’s slated for release in 2017.
I completed my undergraduate degree in communication studies at the University of Puget Sound, and earned my master’s degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.
I’m a word nerd, an avid coffee drinker, and a dog and cat parent. I’m equal parts dreamer and doer.
